How does Melox work to relieve stomach upset?

Melox is a fast acting liquid antacid that works to neutralize the excess stomach acid
that was produced as a result of the large meal that was eaten which will protect the
esophagus from the stomach acid. The esophagus can not handle the stomach acid. Also,
Melox contains simethicone which helps to reduce flatulence or gas that is often
experienced when you over eat.

Melox Uses:

Use this remedy to relieve the following symptoms:

  • Heartburn
  • Acid indigestion
  • Sour stomach
  • Upset stomach due to these symptoms
  • Pressure and bloating commonly referred to as gas
  • Overindulgence in food and drink

Directions:

Shake well before each use. Adults and children 12 years and older: take 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls between meals, at bedtime, or as directed by a doctor. Do not take more than 24 teaspoonfuls in 24 hours or use the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks. Children under 12: ask a doctor.

Active ingredients:

Inactive ingredients:

Benzyl alcohol, butylparaben, carboxymethylcellulose sodium, flavor (contains alcohol), hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, propylparaben, purified water,
saccharin sodium, sorbitol solution.

Each 5 mL teaspoonful contains:
Magnesium 85 mg, sodium 3 mg.

Melox Drug Interactions:

Melox is not recommended for people with kidney disease or high blood calcium levels. Melox may also interact with thyroid medications.
